A distinguished group of Baghdad University scholars participated in the symposium, presenting a variety of research papers addressing topics such as environmental security and its impact on women’s productivity, women’s health within a sustainable environment as a responsibility and a lifestyle, green energy and women’s role between opportunities and challenges, the role of media in strengthening women’s environmental protection efforts, media strategies in addressing climate change, and women’s contribution to environmental awareness within society.
The symposium aimed to highlight the importance of environmental security as the framework in which women live, emphasizing their active role in environmental protection and resource management, contributing to sustainable development and creating positive economic and social impacts.
Additionally, discussions explored the role of media in environmentally empowering women, raising societal awareness through television programs and advertisements, and developing strategies for specialized environmental media targeted at women. Proposed initiatives included enhancing environmental media content, training women on environmental communication techniques, and fostering partnerships with civil society organizations.
After the event, certificates of appreciation were distributed to participants who presented research papers, in recognition of their scientific contributions.
This symposium advances Sustainable Development Goal 5, which promotes gender equality by supporting and empowering women in sustainable development, as well as Goal 15, which focuses on protecting life on land through environmental conservation efforts.
