In celebration of Earth Day, observed annually on April 22, the Quality Assurance Unit and the Women’s Affairs Unit at the Center for Women’s Studies, in collaboration with the Department of Quality Assurance and University Performance at the Presidency of the University of Baghdad, organized a voluntary environmental awareness campaign.

The campaign involved the distribution of awareness posters across various parts of the university, highlighting the importance of environmental preservation and the dangers of climate change. This initiative is part of the university’s ongoing efforts to promote environmental awareness among students and staff.

The campaign launch was attended by a number of academic figures, including Prof. Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs; Prof. Dr. Athraa Ismail Zidan, Director of the Center for Women’s Studies; Dr. Harith Mohammed, Director of the Media and Government Communication Department at the University Presidency; as well as several faculty members from the Quality Assurance Department and staff of the Center.

This initiative falls within the University of Baghdad’s commitment to supporting the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security for the year 2025, specifically the “Protection and Prevention” pillar, which emphasizes, in its eighth clause, the importance of raising awareness about health and environmental risks resulting from climate change.

This activity contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 15, which calls for life on land through educational programs and ecosystem-focused activities at the university and its branches, as well as Goal 17, which emphasizes partnerships for the goals.
