As part of efforts to enhance international academic relations, the President of the University of Baghdad, Prof.Dr. Bahaa Ibraheem Ansaf, received the Australian Ambassador to Iraq, Glenn Miles, at his office at the university headquarters. The meeting was attended by the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, Prof.Dr. Suhail Najim Abdullah, and the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Prof.Dr. Raghad Al-Hashimi.

The meeting focused on ways to develop scientific and cultural cooperation between the University of Baghdad and Australian universities, with an emphasis on student exchange programs, joint supervision, and the establishment of joint research centers.

During the meeting, the President of the University presented an overview of the university’s history and academic achievements, as well as its future plans, including the establishment of the College of Artificial Intelligence and the College of Excellence. He also introduced a number of scientific and research areas where the university is working, aiming for collaboration with Australian universities.

In turn, the Australian Ambassador expressed his country’s interest in strengthening cooperation with Iraqi universities, praising the steps taken by the University of Baghdad in the field of scientific research. He also mentioned the possibility of supporting the university’s research centers and the creation of a dedicated section for Australian universities within the central library, paving the way for the future establishment of an Australian-Iraqi university.

This activity supports two of the Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 4, which promotes quality education, and Goal 17, which calls for partnerships to achieve the goals.
