The University of Baghdad welcomed the activities of the First National Conference for Iraqi Scholars, organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The event was attended by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, the President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Baha Ibrahim Insaf, as well as a gathering of students and individuals interested in academic affairs.

The conference featured five simultaneous sessions held in different venues across the university, dedicated to meetings of scholar associations based on their host countries. For instance, the Association of Scholars in Australia convened in Al-Idrisi Hall in the College of Science. At the same time, the Association of Scholars in the United Kingdom met in Mehdi Hantoush Hall in the College of Engineering. The Association of Scholars in the United States held its meeting in Al-Hakim Hall, while the Theater of the College of Media hosted the meeting for the Association of Scholars in Malaysia.

The sessions focused on discussing ways to support and empower Iraqi students studying abroad, emphasizing the significance of their scientific and intellectual contributions and working to unify their future visions. Additionally, the meetings explored practical mechanisms to harness their potential in alignment with the Ministry of Higher Education’s plans to advance education and scientific research in Iraq.

The conference activities included a detailed presentation of scholarship statistics over the past years, covering host countries, scientific specialties, and the degrees obtained by students. Success stories of several scholars who applied their expertise in the service of the nation were also showcased.

This event contributes to achieving two Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 4, which advocates for quality education, and Goal 17, which emphasizes partnerships for achieving objectives.
