In the 2025 edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject, a total of 1,730 institutions from around the world competed. This new edition evaluates 55 disciplines across five broad fields: Arts & Humanities, Engineering & Technology, Life Sciences & Medicine, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences & Management. The ranking takes into account key indicators such as academic reputation, employer reputation, research citations, H-index, and international research network.

The latest rankings show six Iraqi universities achieving competitive positions in various academic programs. The University of Baghdad led the way in several disciplines, with notable rankings in:

University of Basra / University of Technology (Ranked 101-150)

Northern Technical University / University of Mosul (Ranked 151-175)

Chemical Engineering:
University of Baghdad (Ranked 401-450)

Electrical & Electronic Engineering:
University of Baghdad (Ranked 451-500)

Mechanical Engineering:
University of Baghdad (Ranked 351-400)

Engineering & Technology:
University of Baghdad (Ranked 302)

Computer Science & Information Systems:
University of Baghdad (Ranked 451-500)

University of Basra / University of Kufa (Ranked 751-800)

Languages:
University of Baghdad (Ranked 251-300)

Agriculture & Forestry:

These results reflect the continued efforts of Iraqi universities to enhance their academic standards and improve their international standing.
