The University of Baghdad launched the activities of the annual film festival for student activities, which aims to encourage students’ cinematic creativity and develop their talents in this field. The festival witnesses a wide participation of students of the university’s formations, who compete to present the best short films that reflect their artistic vision and the issues of their society.
The festival, which was attended by the Assistant President for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Amir Faisal Abdul Amir, the Director General of the Department of Relations and Media in Amanat Baghdad, Dr. Muhammad Al-Rubaie, Mr. Wissam Iyad Mohammed, Director General of Al-Ghadeer Municipality and the Director of the Student Activities Department at the University, Dr. Ali Sadiq, included a variety of film screenings that reflect the visions and creativity of young people in various fields of cinema.
In his speech during the opening, Dr. Mohammed Al-Rubaie stressed that these effective and distinctive activities contribute to the development of students’ talents and open new horizons for creativity in the field of cinema, pointing to the importance of supporting youth energies and providing appropriate spaces for them.
For his part, the Director of the Student Activities Department welcomed the attendees, praising the efforts made in establishing and making this festival a success, stressing that the university continues to support artistic and cultural activities that enhance creativity among students.
The annual film festival for student activities is an important opportunity for students to express themselves and highlight their talents in the field of cinema and contributes to enriching the film movement in Iraq.
This activity achieves one of the sustainable development goals, represented by the fourth goal, which calls for quality education
