The President of the University of Baghdad, Prof.Dr. Bahaa Ibraheem Ansaf, met with the Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, Prof.Dr. Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, in the presence of Prof.Dr. Ali Abdul Ameer Sajet, Dean of the College of Arts, Dr. Laith Majeed, faculty member at the College of Arts, and Dr. Aref Al-Saadi, Cultural Advisor to the Prime Minister.
The meeting focused on the initiative to organize the Assyrian Conference in partnership between the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, represented by the University of Baghdad. Discussions covered the details of the conference, which has been held outside Iraq in European countries for the past 70 years, attracting 300 scholars and experts in Mesopotamian heritage.
Dr. Al-Saadi noted that the Iraqi Council of Ministers has given preliminary approval for the project, pending the submission of its final proposal to secure the necessary financial and logistical resources for its implementation.
This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17, which emphasizes partnerships for achieving development objectives.
