The Guidance and Counseling Unit at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, organized a scientific workshop titled “The Phenomenon of Drug Abuse,” presented by Dr. Ikhlas Hameed Hamza, with the attendance of students and staff from the college.
The workshop aimed to examine the effects of drug use and addiction, both physically and mentally, as well as the various methods of consumption, including swallowing, inhalation, injection, and other methods. It discussed the most common types of drugs, including heroin, cocaine, ketamine, and methamphetamine, which are particularly prevalent among youth, often referred to as crystal meth. Additionally, it covered lysergic acid and ecstasy pills.
This initiative also responds to the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and the University of Baghdad to contribute to combating this phenomenon and to enhance the scientific and cognitive approach to understanding and effectively addressing it.
