The President of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Bahaa Ibraheem Ansaf, received in his office in the Presidency of the University, the Advisor to the Ministry of Planning, Dr. Ali Al-Mubarqa and his accompanying delegation, to discuss the subject of the population census and the support mechanism provided by the university to support that project by providing the necessary academic expertise to organize the census process, in the presence of the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah.
The meeting dealt with the challenges facing the Ministry of Planning in implementing the census, especially with regard to the logistical and technical aspects, and the need for all institutions to join hands to make this national mission a success, which depends on the cooperation of universities and research institutions to provide the necessary scientific and field support.
Dr. Ali Al-Mubarqa explained the role of the University of Baghdad, as one of the leading academic institutions, which can play a pivotal role in supporting the population census by involving its professors and researchers in providing research and studies that support national development plans.
The President of the University expressed the university’s full commitment to supporting these efforts, especially through its research centers such as the Center for Population Studies, which is one of the most important research centers in this field, as well as its full readiness to conclude cooperation agreements with the Ministry of Planning, including the opening of study programs for the Higher Diploma in Demography, which will contribute to the preparation of specialized cadres that support population census efforts.
