The President of the University of Baghdad, Prof.Dr. Bahaa Ibraheem Ansaf received Prof.Dr. Walter Zlajberger, Head of the International Association for Assyriology, in his office at the university, in the presence of Dr. Ali Abdul Ameer, Dean of the College of Arts.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the upcoming International Assyriology Conference scheduled to be held in March 2026 in Baghdad. Prof.Dr. Bahaa, confirmed coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, as well as other official bodies, to follow up on matters related to the conference. He noted that this conference represents an opportunity for the exchange of academic research and new discoveries in the field of Assyriology, emphasizing the importance of enhancing cooperation between Iraqi academic institutions and museums and research institutes concerned with ancient history worldwide.
It is worth mentioning that the International Assyriology Conference is an international academic gathering focused on the study of ancient civilizations in the Mesopotamian region, particularly the Assyrian civilization, and is regularly held in various countries.
