The Deanship of the Faculty of Languages received His Excellency the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Baghdad, Mr. Kotrashev Elbrus Kirilovich, who participated in the Houraya session, which was held at the Martyr Fouad Al-Bayati Hall, in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Languages and his assistants.
The Russian ambassador addressed a number of things that would support the scientific and cultural aspects between Iraq and Russia, saying, “The real investment of man is in his knowledge and considered it the highest value in life,” and touched on the close relationship between the two peoples through cooperation between Russian and Iraqi universities, where the number of Iraqi students studying in Russian universities to nearly five thousand students.
The cultural aspect had the most prominent role on the occasion of the eighty years of Iraqi-Russian relations. The ambassador stated that what interests us is the long-term knowledge investment. Between Russia’s efforts in developing the scientific side of the teaching and students of the Russian language department, and despite the circumstances that Russia is going through, it still supports the scientific and academic aspects by allocating grants to Iraqi students to study in the Russian Federation.
The ambassador invited the Dean of the Faculty of Languages, Prof. Dr. Ali Adnan Mashoush, to attend the conference of the Chechen State Educational University representing the President of the University of Baghdad, considering it a sign of hope for the return of cultural and scientific relations between Iraqi and Russian universities, as well as the agreement to establish a Russian language week in Iraq.
On the sidelines of the visit, the Russian Ambassador met with the professors of the Russian Language Department in the department building in the presence of the Head of the Department, Dr. Hadeel Ismail, and a large number of professors, who welcomed this visit because of the importance of enhancing scientific and cultural cooperation.
At the end of the session, Kirillovich praised the Russian language department teachers’ efforts for their role in spreading the Russian language and literature and the importance of the Russian language as one of the most difficult languages in the world.
