The Department of Earth Science, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, held a lecture entitled “Iraqi Geological Stratification” under the auspices of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Raed Faleh Hassan, and the presence of a number of students, researchers, geologists and those concerned with the specialization of Iraqi stratification.
The lecture aimed to discuss some research papers and ideas put forward by a number of Iraqi researchers, and the Geological Conformity Committee to introduce Iraq’s regional geology, discuss the harvest of stratigraphic geological research in Iraq, and present and discuss the most important additions and modifications to the rock units (lithological) and their stratigraphic boundaries.
The lecture presented by Prof. Dr. Salam Ismail Marhoon included a review of studies in order to enhance scientific geological knowledge in various earth sciences and the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and experiences with the participation of geologists and relevant experts, in order to build strong links between academics and technicians in order to achieve the development of the uses of earth sciences and harness these sciences to search for natural resources such as water, gas, oil and economic minerals, as well as the importance of the lecture to be a real and effective motivation for the progress of science and knowledge with the developments it will show. The ideas and technologies are necessitated by the Iraqi geological reality in the geological sciences, especially field geology, seismic stratification, and seismic stratification.
