In recognition of their humanitarian role the Ministry of higher education confirms their honouring and celebrating them annually on an important and significant occasion that is attended by the elite in the society, as an intellectual, moral and even material expression. In a big and majestic ceremony that befits the pride of Iraqi scientists, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research honored a large number of scientists and thinkers of Iraq at Iraqi universities. Dr. Ali al-Adeeb, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research attended the ceremony, as well as Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul-Hussein president of the University of Baghdad, with the other presidents of Iraqi universities and deans of colleges and wide range of scientists, intellectuals and all Iraqi university students, as many of the scientific, political, diplomatic characters attended the celebration with a wide and great coverage of Iraqi and foreign media because of the importance of this celebration .
The celebration has begun with a verse of the Glorious Quran, and then the anthem was played by college of Fine Arts band at the University of Baghdad with a coral of the University of Qadisiyah, and then patriotic and highlighting science songs was chanted , then the Minister of Education delivered a speech welcoming Iraqi scientists, presenting their immortal humanitarian role in building the human civilization, stressing the desire of the Ministry of Education in their assessment and honouring annually with what they had accomplished and achieved for the progress of the society and humanity as a whole. The directorate of Research and Development at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has prepared this big celebration and in coordination with the University of Baghdad, at the Hall of al-Hakim at Baghdad University -Al-Jadiriya, to be one of the most important celebrations which i the Ministry of higher Educations is proud of. Dr Mohammed Al-Sarraj General Director of the directorate of Research and Development at he Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research stated that the ministry is keen to record its thanks and deep appreciation to the Iraqi distinctive university professors with their academic researches and their intellectual efforts , and within a context used in our directorate, so as to urge professors to submit their humanitarian and intellectual bestowals within the academic filed and scientific environment, in order to rise up the society to draw a civilization tantamount to the immortal civilization of Mesopotamia .The website team was keen to cover this ceremony and has documented it with a set of photographs.
