The President of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hassan Atiyah Hassan, received at the University Presidency building the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Iraq, His Excellency Mr. Wojciech Stanisław Pożyk, in the presence of the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah, to discuss prospects for cooperation and the development of bilateral relations between Iraqi and Polish academic institutions.
During the meeting, the President of the University of Baghdad gave an introductory presentation on the University, its history, and its scientific and humanities specializations. The two sides discussed mechanisms for signing memoranda of cooperation and the possibility of sending Iraqi students to study at Polish universities. His Excellency the Polish Ambassador expressed his readiness to expand areas of cooperation and joint work with the University of Baghdad.
The President of the University affirmed the University of Baghdad’s commitment to building effective partnerships with Polish universities and academic institutions, and invited Polish students to study at the University under the “Study in Iraq” initiative. The meeting also addressed the agreement previously signed with the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad, as well as work on preparing a cooperation agreement with the College of Excellence.
This activity supports the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal Four, which calls for quality education, as well as Goal Seventeen, concerning partnerships for achieving the goals.
