The Journal of the College of Arts, issued by the College of Arts – University of Baghdad, participated in the First Conference of Editorial Boards of Iraqi Journals, held under the slogan: “Advancing Iraqi Journals Toward Excellence”, with broad participation from representatives of scientific and academic journals across Iraqi universities.
The conference sessions focused on reviewing digital indicators and the qualitative developments achieved by Iraqi journals over the past three years, with an emphasis on enhancing research output and strengthening the presence of Iraqi journals in international scientific databases.
The conference concluded with a set of important recommendations, most notably urging university presidents to support humanities journals, in light of the absence of any Iraqi humanities journal in global indexing platforms to date. The discussions also addressed major challenges facing Iraqi academic journals and stressed the need to resolve them through the enactment of a dedicated law to regulate their operations and ensure their development and sustainability.
