The Dean of the College of Education for Women at the University of Baghdad, Assist.Prof.Dr. Ithmar Shakir Majid Al-Shatari, welcomed Dr. Ansieh Khazali, the former Advisor to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, during an official visit. The meeting was attended by Dr. Zahida Ahmed Hamid, former Iraqi Cultural Attaché in Iran, Dr. Nada Al-Abidi, Director of the Women’s Affairs Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Advisor at the Iranian Embassy, Dr. Hala Al-Jabari Al-Moussawi, Director of the Family and Women’s Center, as well as several faculty members from the college.

At the start of the meeting, Dr. Ansieh Khazali extended her congratulations to Dr. Ithmar Al-Shatari on her appointment as Dean of the College. She also delivered a scientific lecture titled “The Academic Woman: Opportunities and Challenges”, highlighting the pivotal role of women in higher education. Discussions focused on strengthening scientific and research cooperation between the College of Education for Women and its counterparts in Iranian universities, aiming to develop strategic plans and academic-cultural programs that serve the public interest.

Dr. Khazali emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to support academic women, protect women from violence, and promote social and psychological counseling. She also expressed her full readiness to facilitate the necessary agreements that would enhance academic ties between the two countries.

This meeting aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 5 (Gender Equality) and Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), reinforcing the commitment to advancing women’s roles in academia and fostering academic and research innovation.
