The Higher Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies at the University of Baghdad, as part of the Advanced Scientific Development Program for Students (ASDPS),organized a workshop titled “Legal Legislation and Its Role in Combating Drug Abuse.”
The workshop featured lectures by Assist.Prof.Dr. Ali Mohammed Thjeel Al-Mamouri, Dean of the Institute, Assist.Prof.Dr. Mahmoud Ismail Mohammed, a faculty member at the institute, and Assist.Lecturer Enas Jomaa Radi, Head of the Legal Division at the institute. The event was attended by postgraduate students.
The event highlighted Iraqi legislation on drug control and explored effective ways to enforce these laws to combat this societal threat. It also examined the role of security and judicial institutions in upholding the rule of law and implementing appropriate penalties to curb the spread of drug-related issues.
The activity concluded by emphasizing the need for enhanced collaboration among all relevant entities and the continuous development of legislation to address the evolving challenges of drug control.
This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11, which focuses on making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.
