The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled “Drugs among University Students: Causes, Effects, and Ways to Treat”. The workshop witnessed a distinguished presence of students, professors, and researchers interested in this vital topic.

The workshop, in which Prof. Dr. Rafid Sabah, a lecturer at the college, lectured, dealt with a topic of paramount importance, which is the spread of drugs among university students and the impact of this scourge on youth and society. Dr. Sabah presented in-depth analyses of the causes of drug abuse among students, whether social, psychological, or economic, as well as reviewed the negative effects of drugs on the health of the individual and society, whether physical, psychological, or social.

The workshop witnessed extensive discussions and exchanges of views on ways to address this problem and provide support to young people suffering from addiction, and the importance of concerted efforts between educational institutions, families, and society to combat this phenomenon and educate young people about the dangers of drugs.
