The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop on cyber extortion and raising awareness to confront digital threats. The event saw significant participation from students, who engaged actively with the lecture and the topics discussed.
The workshop, presented by Dr. Riya Khalid Naji, aimed to highlight the concept of cyber extortion, explaining its various types and methods. It also provided practical guidance on how to prevent and combat such threats. Additionally, the workshop addressed other digital threats faced by individuals and institutions in the digital age and how to deal with them effectively.
This activity was organized in response to the increasing use of the internet and social media, accompanied by risks such as cyber extortion, online harassment, cyberbullying, and data theft. The goal was to equip participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to protect themselves and their loved ones from these threats.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the speaker offered several important recommendations, including the avoidance of sharing personal information with strangers. Users should refrain from sharing personal details such as phone numbers, addresses, and photos with anyone they do not know online, and exercise caution when engaging in online emotional relationships.
