The Department of Journalism at the College of Mass Communication at the University of Baghdad organized a specialized workshop entitled “The Importance of Blockchain Technology in Blockchain for New Media”, presented by Prof. Dr. Saad Kazem Hassan, with the participation of a number of professors, students and those interested in digital media technologies.
The workshop touched on the concept of blockchain as an advanced technology that enhances transparency and credibility in the transfer of information, and its growing role in combating fake news, protecting copyright, and enabling journalists to publish content safely and reliably.
During the workshop, Dr. Saad stressed that “this technology can revolutionize the field of media, by recording journalistic content on non-tampered networks, which ensures the credibility of news, and protects it from forgery or unauthorized modification.”
At the end of the workshop, attendees stressed the importance of integrating modern technologies into the academic curricula to introduce students to the latest trends in digital media and develop their skills in line with the rapid technological transformations.
