The Educational Guidance and Guidance Unit at the College of Mass Communication at the University of Baghdad organized an awareness seminar entitled “Honoring one’s parents is a religious and moral duty” in the presence of several college professors and students.
Dr. Samah Abdul Hussein also presented a joint scientific paper with Dr. Rana Al-Azzawi entitled “Parental Rights and the Importance of Honoring Them.” In it, they reviewed the social and religious dimensions of these values, focusing on the need to educate young people about their responsibilities towards their parents.
During the seminar, Assistant Professor Dr. Anaam Abdul Reda presented a scientific paper in which she addressed the legal aspects of parental disobedience in Iraq, explaining that “Iraqi law criminalizes this behavior because of its negative effects on the family and society.”
This seminar comes within the framework of the college’s continuous efforts to spread moral and social awareness among students and to enhance the university’s role in building a conscious and responsible generation.
