The College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad discussed a doctoral thesis titled “Study of Immune Elements, Biomarkers, and Specific Microorganisms in the Saliva of Patients with Lichen Planus” by the student Safaa Moyed Askar Jajan.
The aim of the thesis was to evaluate the differences between patients with lichen planus (oral and cutaneous) and healthy individuals in terms of the levels of certain immune elements and biomarkers, as well as the prevalence of fungal infections within these groups.
The study involved the collection of saliva samples from 60 participants, 30 diagnosed with oral lichen planus, 30 diagnosed with cutaneous lichen planus, and 30 healthy individuals for comparison.
