The Guidance Unit at the College of Mass Communication at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled “The Nature and Importance of Human Rights and the Legal Aspects of Human Rights”, in which Dr. Rana Abdul Latif and Dr. Ikhlas Hamid Hamza lectured, in the presence of a number of students and staff of the college.
The workshop aimed to address multiple themes related to the concept of human rights and their importance in achieving justice and equality, in addition to shedding light on the legal aspects associated with them at the local and international levels.
The two lectures stressed the need to promote a culture of human rights in society, and the importance of raising awareness of rights and duties to ensure the building of a cohesive society based on the principles of law and justice and discussed the challenges facing the application of human rights in practice, with examples and models of relevant international laws.
The workshop witnessed great interaction from the attendees, who raised the discussion with their interventions and inquiries, which added a lively atmosphere to the event and highlighted the importance of the topic at hand.
This workshop also comes within the framework of the College of Mass Communication at the University of Baghdad to enhance the role of continuing education in spreading awareness and culture of rights among students and employees and supporting academic efforts in providing knowledge in practical ways that contribute to the development of individual and institutional capabilities.
