The University of Baghdad Council convened its seventh regular session for the 2024–2025 academic year to discuss various academic and administrative issues aimed at enhancing the standing of the university’s journals in international academic rankings and supporting scientific research. The session was chaired by the President of the University of Baghdad, Prof.Dr. Bahaa Ibraheem Ansaf, and attended by the deans of the university’s colleges and institutes.
The council’s decisions included directing college deanships to form task forces within their departments to oversee the inclusion of the university’s journals in the global Scopus index. Emphasis was placed on the importance of integrating these journals into Scopus-specific archiving platforms to achieve this goal.
During the session, the President of the University assigned the Scientific Assistant, Prof.Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah, to restructure the committee responsible for facilitating the inclusion of journals in global academic databases. This effort aims to organize and monitor progress in integrating the university’s journals into international indices, thereby elevating the quality and reach of its scientific publications.
The session also addressed the importance of completing data related to computing allowances within the university’s departments. This data will be systematically submitted to the Ministry to streamline processes and secure the necessary support.
After reviewing these decisions, the council proceeded to discuss other agenda items, exchanging perspectives and adopting the necessary recommendations to achieve the university’s academic and administrative objectives.
These decisions are part of the University of Baghdad’s broader strategy to reinforce its leadership in scientific research, support its academic journals, and enhance the university’s technological infrastructure.
