The Director of the National Pioneering Center for Cancer Research at the University of Baghdad, Assistant Professor Dr. Kawakeb Najmuddin Abdullah, visited the university city and the Sultan Qaboos Integrated Center for Cancer Treatment and Research, based on the directives of the President of the University of Baghdad that aimed at strengthening the mechanisms of academic cooperation and twinning with Arab and international universities, and at the kind invitation of Prof. Dr. Amer bin Saif Al-Hinai, Vice President of Sultan Qaboos University for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research.
The visit included scientific meetings and introductory tours in the corridors of the University Medical City, where Dr. Kawakeb was briefed on the various departments of the university and the curricula used in medical education in the Sultanate of Oman. The visit included prospects for academic cooperation and future partnerships between the University of Baghdad and Sultan Qaboos University, within the framework of exchanging experiences and knowledge between the two institutions.
Dr. Kawakeb also visited the Sultan Qaboos Integrated Center for Cancer Treatment and Research, which is one of the most advanced medical centers in the region and specializes in providing comprehensive services for the treatment and diagnosis of cancer.
The visit concluded with an official invitation to Dr. Kawakeb from the Omani Ministry of Health, to learn about the latest developments in the field of early detection of cancer, in a step that highlights the progress witnessed by the health sector in the Sultanate of Oman and the efforts exerted to combat this disease.
