The College of Education Ibn Rushd for Human Sciences at the University of Baghdad held a scientific workshop entitled (Drugs and their impact on the health of the individual and society) delivered by Prof. Dr. Bushra Nima Rashid and Assistant Professor Iman Jabr Janam and in the presence of a group of students.

The workshop aimed to introduce the problems of drugs and their comprehensive negative impact, which extends to all aspects of life, including the physical and psychological health of the individual as well as the social and economic aspects of society. This workshop also aims to deepen the understanding of the factors that drive individuals to addiction and the multiple effects that result from this at the level of the individual and society, in addition to reviewing preventive and therapeutic ways to combat this phenomenon.

The workshop included a set of axes, including the definition of drugs and the causes of drug addiction, as well as the types of drugs such as natural, industrial, and manufactured, and their impact on the individual, and dealt with the health, psychological, mental, social, behavioral and economic effects.

The workshop found that drugs are a multidimensional problem that affects the health of the individual and society and contributes to increasing economic burdens and social pressures and that raising awareness of the dangers of drugs is a necessary step to build a healthy and safe society by raising awareness among young people and enhancing their ability to face challenges and pressures. We can protect the future of future generations from falling into the trap of drugs, and support building a generation capable of facing this scourge with courage and awareness.
