The Department of Animal Production at the College of Agricultural Engineering Science, in cooperation with the Department of Accident Response at the Directorate of Civil Defense, held a scientific symposium entitled “The requirements for the quality of educational laboratories” at the hall of the Plant Protection Department. This event aimed to guide the staff working at the college’s laboratories, in matters related to adopting the correct methods in dealing with laboratory and emergency accidents within the laboratory, as well as indicating the proper way to use fire extinguishers within laboratories in practice and informing students of the correct academic and laboratory work controls adopted by the ministry of higher education and scientific research currently in accordance with the conditions of security and personal & public safety.
The first lecture was delivered by the Brigadier General Dr. Mohammed Abdul Qadir from the Disaster Response Department and the chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear CBRN defense measures. The second lecture was by the Major Saif Ahmed, from the Civil Defense Directorate in Al-Karrada Civil Defense Center in Al-Rusafa. The symposium was concluded with a lecture by Dr. Areej Mohammed, from the Department of Animal Production in which she talked about evaluating the outcomes of self-assessment of variables. The participants also submitted some recommendations aimed at raising the quality of laboratories to the maximum in terms of follow-up and application.
