Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi, rector of the University of Baghdad has chaired recently the twenty second session of the university council in the membership of his assistants for scientific and administrative affairs and the council secretary, in the presence of all members, deans of faculties, postgraduate institutes and centers. The rector at first praised the role played by deans and exam committees in supporting the success of the final virtual examinations through preparing all th necessary requirements in this regard in addition to adhering to health instructions to preserve public safety.
Then he stressed the need to vaccinate faculty members and students in coordination with the large-scale vaccination campaign sponsored by the university’s health center that has started on Tuesday, August 3, in addition to the need for raising awareness of people to take vaccines through social media, official websites and other virtual means, adding that at the onset of the next academic year, students are supposed to have vaccination certificates or to present a Covid-19 test to ensure their safety from any infection on a weekly basis.
However, the members discussed the mechanisms of paying money and buying supplies in accordance with the legal provisions and instructions in force, and addressed a number of matters related to grading on a curve based on the council’s authority, as well as giving another chance to the students who have failed in half of the study materials or more at the first semester to pass exams in the second semester for only the materials that they failed in, excluding those who were absent. At the conclusion of this session, the rector extended his congratulations to a number of deans on the occasion of assuming positions.
