The Legal Affairs Department at the University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Department of Education and Public Relations at the Federal Integrity Commission, organized a workshop entitled “Applied Program for Promoting a Culture of Integrity and Transparency.” The event was attended by Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Al-Hashemi, Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs and Chair of the Committee for Monitoring the Implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy for 2025.

The workshop, held in alignment with the government’s anti-corruption initiative, witnessed broad academic and administrative participation from various university departments. Participants discussed methods for institutionalizing transparency and strengthening ethical values within the university work environment, in addition to reviewing mechanisms for implementing the national anti-corruption strategy.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Al-Hashemi welcomed the attendees, affirming that this workshop represents a strategic component of the university’s efforts to link institutional performance with ethical values. He emphasized, “Development can only be built on a foundation of integrity; reform is only achieved through the entrenchment of transparency; and strong institutions are only formed when science is blended with values and knowledge with ethics.”

The workshop concluded with several important recommendations, most notably: enhancing the integration between university regulations and relevant national laws; activating academic codes of conduct to ensure adherence to institutional values; incorporating academic integrity modules and training workshops into educational programs; developing secure and confidential channels for reporting corruption within universities; encouraging scientific research in the fields of transparency and anti-corruption; and systematically embedding integrity concepts into university curricula.

Through this initiative, the University of Baghdad reaffirms its commitment to actively supporting national efforts to build robust educational institutions founded on sound governance and a culture of transparency and integrity as pillars of sustainable development and reform.

This workshop contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 16, which advocates for peace, justice, and strong institutions.
