Under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, Al-Farabi University hosted the central meeting of heads and members of student activity divisions from public and private universities and colleges, with the attendance of Dr. Hassanein Al-Shadidi, Director of the Student Activities Department at the Ministry of Higher Education.

The meeting was attended by Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul Razaq Al-Hashemi, Assistant President of the University of Baghdad for Administrative Affairs, and Dr. Ali Sadiq Thiyab, Director of the Student Activities Department at the Presidency of the University of Baghdad, along with a number of representatives from public and private universities.

During the meeting, the student activities plan for the academic year 2025–2026 was discussed, along with mechanisms to develop extracurricular programs that support the university environment.

In a statement, Dr. Raghad Abdul Razaq Al-Hashemi affirmed that “the University of Baghdad places great importance on student activities as one of the pillars of the educational process, due to their direct impact on developing students’ personalities and refining their leadership and cognitive skills,” emphasizing the need for integration between academic aspects and university activities to create a comprehensive educational environment.

Dr. Ali Sadiq Thiyab, during his participation in the meeting, stressed that student activities represent a vital part of the overall university experience, affirming that the University of Baghdad is keen to support students in the fields of arts, sports, and innovation, and to provide an environment that fosters creativity and competition.

Participants emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between universities and exchanging successful experiences to develop the reality of student activities and elevate them to standards of quality and excellence.

This initiative contributes to two Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 4, which calls for quality education, and Goal 17, which promotes partnerships to achieve the goals.
