The College of Administration and Economics at the University of Baghdad organized its first specialized scientific conference, titled “Digital Financial Empowerment and Inclusion: A Necessity for Sustainable Economic Growth,” in cooperation with the Central Bank of Iraq. The conference was attended by the Assistant President of the University of Baghdad for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah, representing the President of the University of Baghdad, and the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Prof. Dr. Ammar Hamad Khalaf, with the participation of a select group of academics, experts, and specialists, and a number of representatives of relevant ministries, institutions, and departments.
The conference highlighted the importance of digital financial inclusion as one of the fundamental pillars for strengthening sustainable economic development, through the use of modern financial technologies and the expansion of banking services. This contributes to improving access to financial services and narrowing developmental gaps among Iraqi governorates.
The conference sessions also discussed the role of financial inclusion in enhancing the efficiency of fiscal and economic policies, analyzed the reality of its application in Iraq and the extent of its contribution to balanced development, and reviewed the challenges facing digital transformation in the financial and banking sector and the opportunities available for developing it in line with economic and technological changes.
