The University of Baghdad Council held its third session of the 2026–2027 academic year, chaired by the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hassan Atiyah Hassan, and attended by all council members, to discuss a number of academic, scientific, and service-related files and to adopt decisions and directives aimed at developing institutional performance and improving the university environment.
The council discussed the approval of a new mechanism to strengthen scientific research, contributing to improving the quality of research, increasing its scholarly impact, and expanding the University of Baghdad’s presence in international academic forums.
On the service side, the President of the University affirmed that the cleanliness of the university campus and its constituent bodies is a daily responsibility and a fundamental priority. He directed that the resources of the University Presidency be mobilized to support the colleges, institutes, and centers, enabling them to provide a decent, safe, and stimulating university environment for students, faculty members, and staff.
The council also examined the University’s standing in global rankings and the related indicators, as well as ways to enhance the University of Baghdad’s position and international competitiveness by improving academic and research performance and strengthening the global presence of its scholarly output.
As part of developing the University’s digital presence, the council directed that the websites of the University’s constituent bodies be upgraded, and that English-language versions be created and developed in accordance with unified professional standards. It also called for strengthening the bodies’ presence on social media platforms and monitoring the quality and accuracy of published content, in a manner that reflects the identity of the University of Baghdad, its academic standing, and its long-established history.
