Ibn Rushd College of Education for Human Sciences at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled (Advantages and disadvantages of the collective method in the decision-making process) delivered by assistant teacher Sarmad Nasser Faizullah.

The workshop aimed at identifying the advantages and disadvantages of the collective method in the decision-making process. The workshop included emphasizing the principle of Shura, which is present in all previous civilizations, which Islam urged and took as an important factor in managing their affairs, derived from the noble verse in Surat Al-Imran: 159 in the Almighty’s saying: (And consult them in the matter) as well as in Surat Al-Shura Verse: 38 in the Almighty’s saying: (And their command is Shura among themselves), and that collective participation in reaching decision-making is better and a great benefit in important decisions because the group plays a better role than the individual in solving problems and making decisions.

The workshop reached a set of recommendations, including emphasizing the principle of shura to ensure that subordinates accept the solution or solutions that will be reached and then applied, as well as the need for personal and career development of employees in the facility by involving them in the decision-making process, and avoiding conflict between members of the group, which may hinder them from reaching appropriate creative solutions.
