Prof.Dr. Talal Khalifa Salman Al-Obaidi, a faculty member in the Department of Arabic Language at the College of Education for Women, University of Baghdad, has published a new book titled (Emotions of the Soul in the Quran: Semiotic and Psycho-Textual Studies).
The book was released by the Intellectual and Cultural Affairs Department, the Quranic Knowledge Division at the Holy Husseiniya Shrine, and Al-Warith Publishing House. It consists of five studies that explore various emotional states and desires of the soul in the Quran, including joy, sorrow, grief, anguish, anger, rage, and dissatisfaction.
Prof.Dr. Al-Obaidi employed the semiotic approach and its various levels, particularly the psycho-textual path, to examine the signs of facial expressions and eye gestures in the eschatological scenes depicted in the Quran. The book investigates how these emotional expressions generate psychological meaning in the texts.
