The Department of Diwan Affairs at the Presidency of the University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Military Industrialization Authority, organized a training course entitled (Requirements of Civil Defense, Occupational Safety, Fire Dealing and First Aid), delivered by a number of engineers from the Military Industrialization Authority, which lasts for three days, in the presence of the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Bahaa Ibraheem Ansaf, and a number of employees of the university’s formations working in the field of civil defense.

In his speech, the University president directed the need to adhere to safety procedures, overcome obstacles, provide continuous guidance in the field of civil defense requirements, and enhance security and safety measures at the university. He also pointed to the need to allocate a day a year for training practice to face any emergency.

The course aimed to develop the skills and competencies of civil defense staff in the field of fire suppression and first aid, as well as knowledge of the types of fires and how to control them and knowledge of the use of fires according to the type of fires. The course included two theoretical and practical aspects, including the use of fire extinguishing tools, their types, how to use them, helping the injured in emergencies, providing first aid, and dealing with fires in different ways.

In conclusion, the lecturers stressed the need to adhere to the instructions and civil safety procedures and to know the use of fire and equipment necessary to extinguish and avoid fires and disasters, as well as to maintain the fire brigade periodically, support workers in the field of civil defense financially and morally, install early warning systems and continuous training for workers in this field without exception.
