A faculty member in the Journalism Department at the College of Mass communication, University of Baghdad, Prof.Dr. Saad Kazem, has published a research paper titled “Podcasting: Could It Be a Substitute for Radio?” in the Journal of Arab Broadcasts.
The research aims to shed light on the concept of podcasting and its definitions, the history of its emergence, and the process by which it was named. This term originated from the use of the iPod device developed by Apple Inc., which refers to how audio players are used to listen to podcast files.
The paper discusses the purpose of podcasting, which serves various functions, with its primary goal being to entertain the audience. It also addresses the characteristics of podcasts, the reasons behind their popularity, the economics of the podcasting industry, and the future of podcasting globally.
