The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women, University of Baghdad, organized a scientific workshop for fourth-year students titled “Research Methodology and the Process of Writing Research Projects,” presented by Prof.Dr. Intisar Kazem Al-Izawi from the Department of Theoretical Sciences.
The lecture explained the concept of “method” as the approach or style that a researcher follows in the procedures to address a problem. She classified scientific methodologies into three types: historical, descriptive, and experimental. Additionally, she stated that scientific research consists of a series of sequential steps and procedures executed by the researcher related to various aspects of the phenomenon to be studied, with the aim of achieving a goal or solving a problem.
Al-Izawi also reviewed the process and steps for writing scientific research, which include five chapters: the first contains the introduction, problem statement, rationale, significance, objectives, hypotheses, and spatial and temporal domains; the second includes a review of references and related theoretical studies; the third covers the research methodology; the fourth presents the results and discussion; and the fifth includes conclusions and recommendations. Furthermore, she provided details on writing the contents of the research in general, noting that there may be differences according to the type of research being conducted.
