A delegation from the University of Baghdad, led by Prof.Dr. Ameer Faisal Abdul Ameer, the Assistant President for Administrative Affairs, visited the Eastern Mediterranean University in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen the ties of cooperation between the two institutions and to exchange ideas and expertise in complementary fields such as engineering, medicine, pharmacy, and sciences. The delegation also included Prof.Dr. Sarmad Hashim Al-Khatib, Dean of the College of Pharmacy; Prof.Dr. Mohammed Basel Ismail, Associate Dean of the College of Medicine; Prof.Dr. Amjad Hamid Khalil, Head of the Civil Engineering Department; and Prof.Dr. Haidar Mohammed Abdul Hameed, a faculty member in the Environmental Engineering Department.
During the visit, discussions were held on the potential for collaborative research projects between Eastern Mediterranean University and the University of Baghdad, focusing on areas such as renewable energy, sustainable development, artificial intelligence, and electric vehicles. The visit also addressed ways to enhance academic and scientific collaboration, explore opportunities for student and faculty exchanges, and share expertise among researchers in various fields. Additionally, the possibility of signing joint cooperation agreements and supporting centers of innovation and excellence was considered. Dr. Amir Faisal Abdul Amir invited Cypriot students to take advantage of the “Study in Iraq” program launched by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, emphasizing the strong academic reputation of the University of Baghdad.
The delegation also visited several colleges and departments at Eastern Mediterranean University and held joint meetings with the President of the University, Prof.Dr. Hasan Kılıç, and his assistants, along with various deans and department heads. The President of Eastern Mediterranean University expressed his gratitude to the delegation for accepting the invitation to visit the university. At the conclusion of the visit, commemorative shields were exchanged as a symbol of the fruitful academic partnership aimed at enhancing the educational process in both countries.
