The Department of Plant Protection, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit of the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, held a workshop titled “Banned Pesticides: The Reality of Their Ban and Their Actual Use in Iraq. The speakers included Prof.Halima Zghair Hussein from the Department of Plant Protection and Engineer.Farouk Hussein Khudair from the Diyala Agriculture Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The event was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, notable agricultural companies cooperating with the ministry in pesticide registration and approval, as well as professors and postgraduate students from the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences at the University of Baghdad and other universities.
The workshop aimed to clarify the dangers of banned pesticides and their impact on Iraqi consumers. It also focused on intensifying efforts to monitor certain offices and retail traders, educating the community through workshops and seminars about the negative effects of these pesticides, and highlighting the responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture and experts from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in emphasizing the importance and risks of this issue to consumers.
