The President of the University of Baghdad, Prof.Dr. Bahaa Ibraheem, visited with his accompanying delegation, which included members of the technical team from the Center of Excellence for Solar Energy at the University’s Colleges of Engineering and Al-Khwarizmi Engineering, along with representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Spain. This visit marks a significant step towards developing renewable energy initiatives.
The field visit, organized by the World Bank, aimed to identify best practices in solar energy and transfer this knowledge to the new Center of Excellence for Solar Energy planned at Baghdad University. In turn, Prof.Dr. Bahaa emphasized the importance of such visits in contributing significantly to the development of the renewable energy sector in Iraq. He underscored the significance of staying abreast of developments in this field and transferring the expertise of these leading institutions to establish the Center of Excellence for Solar Energy at Baghdad University. He noted that the university’s commitment to renewable energy and sustainability would have a profound impact through the establishment of the Center of Excellence for Solar Energy, aligning with global efforts to enhance clean energy solutions and sustainable development.
Additionally, the delegation visited several prestigious institutions in Spain known for their advancements and specialization in solar energy, including the National Renewable Energy Centre (CENER) in Pamplona, Spain. Here, the delegation received updates on the latest research and development in renewable energy technologies and gained insights into innovative practices in solar energy.
