A joint research team in the Department of Physics at the College of Science at the University of Baghdad and its freshness at Al-Nahrain University obtained a patent entitled (Chemical Plastic Fiber Optic Sensor in the shape of the letter D based on surface plasmon resonance) after this patent meets the conditions for granting it from the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control in the Ministry of Planning.
The patent, whose team of Baghdad science researchers, Prof. Dr. Sudad Salman Ahmed, and assistant teacher in Al-Nahrain sciences, Ghofran Mohamed Jassam, aimed to provide an innovative way to design a plastic optical fiber and implement it in a D-shape to sensitize chemicals with different refractive indexes.
The patent results found that sensitization works in different regions and fields, as the sensor is used to estimate refractive indexes and concentrations of different chemicals.
