The Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Unit at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, hosted a workshop entitled “Human Trafficking: Strategies for Combat and Its Implications.” Assist.Lecturer Amal Abbas Mahsen delivered the presentation, attended by students and faculty members.
The workshop aimed to highlight the most pressing crimes confronting global societies today, focusing on the annual exploitation of millions in illegal activities, including forced labor, physical abuse, and organ trafficking. It also addressed recommendations regarding the concept of human trafficking, exploring the reasons behind the proliferation of such crimes domestically and internationally. It outlined key solutions based on international laws for addressing this crime and highlighted the most affected groups.
It is noteworthy that this workshop aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 11 of the United Nations, which aims to make cities and communities inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.
