The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop on selecting reputable journals and identifying counterfeit as part of a research skills development program for postgraduate students. The workshop, led by Prof.Dr. Rafid Sabah, aimed to educate students on the importance of choosing reputable journals for publishing their research and how to distinguish them from the counterfeit journals proliferating on the internet.
During the event, the presenter provided a detailed explanation of the criteria for evaluating scientific journals, such as the Impact Factor and other indicators like Scopus and Google Scholar. He also offered practical advice to students on how to search for suitable journals to publish their research and how to verify their legitimacy and credibility.
This activity is one of the most important events organized by the College of Islamic Sciences to develop the research skills of postgraduate students. With the increasing number of scientific journals published online, it has become challenging for researchers to distinguish between reputable and counterfeit journals. This workshop helps students make informed decisions about selecting journals for publishing their research, thereby improving the quality of their work and increasing their chances of being published in prestigious journals.
The workshop witnessed active participation from postgraduate students who asked questions about how to choose the right journals for their research fields and how to deal with counterfeit journals that contact them via email. These efforts are part of the College of Islamic Sciences’ initiatives to enhance the research skills of its students, improve the quality of their research, and elevate the university’s standing in the scientific community.
