The Department of Biotechnology, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop titled “Requirements for Academic Promotion,” attended by a number of students, faculty members, and individuals involved in academic promotion committees.
The workshop aimed to clarify the conditions for academic promotion and provide detailed explanations according to the decision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, currently implemented by governmental and private universities. It outlined the criteria, endorsements, and necessary attachments required when submitting an application or a file for academic promotion by faculty members, in addition to explaining the application of the tables and scientific paragraphs required to implement these instructions.
The workshop included a review of the conditions and requirements necessary for faculty members of the college to obtain academic promotion, as well as the steps they must follow when submitting the application. It also outlined the methods by which faculty members can earn points, which are included in the research tables and activities related to various academic ranks, the process of completing the paragraphs, and how to calculate promotion points. Additionally, it addressed the required time duration for promotion ranks, varying from the last promotion to the current academic rank of the faculty member.
