The Department of Electronic and Communications Engineering at the College of Engineering held a physical seminar entitled Women and the Impact of Climate Change delivered by Dr. Anwar Qasim Al-Khatib in the presence of a number of teachers and employees
The symposium dealt with several themes related to climate change, where it touched on the concept of climate change and its multiple causes, as well as the effects of these changes on various socio-economic and environmental aspects, with a focus on their impact on women in particular.
The seminar came out with a set of recommendations, including the need for a rapid transition to renewable energy, increasing women’s leadership positions, enacting laws that support their participation in confronting climate change, encouraging loans for environmental projects, strengthening partnerships between actors to empower women, also focusing on raising awareness of sound environmental practices, supporting developing countries, promoting sustainable agriculture and the use of clean energy, and finally stressing the importance of educating women and providing them with study opportunities to enhance their awareness and confront the effects of climate change.
