The President of the University of Baghdad, Prof.Dr. Bahaa Ibrahieem Ansaf, received Mr. Xue Haifeng, the Assistant Ambassador of China in Baghdad, in the presence of Prof.Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah, the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Ali Adnan Mishoosh, the Dean of the College of Languages, and Prof.Dr. Enas Khalifa Al-Sharqi, the Director of the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations at the University.
The meeting focused on strengthening scientific and cultural cooperation between the University of Baghdad and Chinese universities. They discussed the possibility of initiating joint research projects between Chinese universities and the University of Baghdad, as well as the potential establishment of a Chinese language department within the college of Languages at the university. And emphasis was placed on the placed the deep-rooted relationship between the two countries and the significant role of universities in fostering this relationship. Opening such a department would enhance communication and dialogue between the two ancient civilizations and their friendly peoples.
In turn, Prof.Dr. Bahaa, stated the university’s keenness to strengthen its ties with Chinese universities, highlighting that scientific and cultural cooperation is one of the most important means of development and progress. He also encouraged Chinese students to benefit from the “Study in Iraq” program launched by the Ministry of Higher Education.
The Deputy Ambassador of China expressed the desire of Chinese universities to reinforce collaboration with the University of Baghdad, emphasizing the importance of Iraq as a country with a rich history and civilization.
