The College of Education for Women at the University of Baghdad collaborated with the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) to promote human rights protection within the academic community and to introduce the protection measures adopted and implemented by the University of Baghdad in its daily operations.
During the meeting, Prof.Dr. Athmar Al-Shatari, Dean of the College of Education for Women, expressed that the visit of the United Nations mission strengthens the collaboration in the field of human rights and mutual respect in teaching the principles of human rights and advocating for them. This collaboration also explores the potential application of human rights and democracy programs and peacebuilding under the auspices of the University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Human Rights Office of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).
Indeed, the college’s program aims to develop and evaluate human rights curricula, build the capacities of academic elites in Iraqi colleges and universities, train teaching staff, and educate university students through workshops, voluntary seminars, and scientific courses. Additionally, it aims to invigorate studies and research in this field.
