Assist.Prof.Hakim Hamoud Faleh from the Department of Financial and Banking Sciences at the College of Administration and Economics has published a scientific research paper in a Scopus-indexed journal titled “Analysis of the Accounting Financial Performance of Private Listed Banks in the Emerging Market for the Period 2010–2022.”

The study aimed to investigate the impact of accounting financial performance analysis on the financial market, represented by private banks listed on the Iraqi Stock Exchange, on the Iraqi economy amidst the potential future market activity following Iraq’s opening up to the world. It also examined the risks and obstacles faced by banks, particularly from the United States, which could lead to problems and crises in the banking sector.

Inspired by the necessity of establishing a connection between the importance of accounting financial performance analysis for the Iraqi stock market and the financial and economic institutions in Iraq, the study analyzed a sample consisting of ten Iraqi banks listed on the Iraq Stock Exchange for the period 2010-2020. Through statistical analysis, the study focused on liquidity analysis, future return forecasting, and the risks faced by banks, in addition to the possibility of exposure to risk due to unintended consequences arising from unusual circumstances.

The research reached several conclusions, notably that the Iraqi stock market does not hold significant importance for the Iraqi economy, and the weakness of the economy in facing international shocks makes it challenging to implement monetary and fiscal policies.
