Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, honored the government universities that achieved the top three positions in the results of the Iraqi Universities Ranking. University of Baghdad secured the first place among government universities, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Bahaa Ibraheem Ansaf, President of the University of Baghdad.

The Minister of Education expressed his confidence that Iraqi universities will continue their upward trajectory in scientific publishing and competition in rankings, which enhances the academic reputation of institutions and provides them with a positive presence on international platforms.

It is worth mentioning that the Iraqi Universities Ranking for the year 2023 included the evaluation of ninety-five government and private institutions based on the following criteria: institutional accreditation 20%, international rankings 10%, effectiveness of scientific research 30%, community service 5%, digital maturity 2%, faculty members 10%, awards 5%, students 5%, infrastructure 5%, diversity and international cooperation 5%, and health and occupational safety 3%.

The ranking conducted by the Supervision and Scientific Evaluation Agency placed the University of Baghdad in the first position, followed by the University of Babylon and the University of Technology among government universities. Additionally, Al-Ameed University secured the top place among private universities and colleges, with Al-Mustaqbal University coming in second, and the Islamic University in third place.
