The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Arts, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop entitled (Homosexuality and its negative effects on society) in cooperation with the Department of Sociology.

The head of the Department of Sociology and the organizer of the workshop, Prof. Dr. Thaer Ahmed Hassoun, said “The workshop included a presentation of the social axis and the role of socialization in confronting homosexuality, the political axis and the trend against the Arab region and Islamic countries and the attempt to destroy traditions and ties between individuals, as well as the economic axis that focused on imposing hegemony and coercion.”

He pointed out that “the workshop touched on the issue of homosexuality in the laws of the United Nations and Iraqi law and its erroneous reliance on human rights in this issue, with a comparison with the Iraqi criminal law to address and combat the shameful acts that fall under its jurisdiction.”
